Anaesthesiology

Anaesthesiology

The Department of Anaesthesiology has demonstrated remarkable growth and excellence since the time of establishment. From an initial three operation theatres, the department has expanded to multiple state-of-the-art operating theatres, fully equipped with advanced anaesthesia workstations, high-precision monitoring systems, and modern safety technology. These facilities support a wide range of surgical specialties, ensuring optimal peri-operative care for adult and paediatric patients.

The department also provides Non-Operating Room Anaesthesia (NORA) services in Cath Lab, Radiology, and Endoscopy suites. In addition, it plays a pivotal role in critical care services, delivering comprehensive care to surgical and medical critically ill patients through a well-equipped intensive care unit. With a strong commitment to patient safety, education, research, and innovation, the department continues to set benchmarks in anaesthesia and critical care services in the region.

The department also handles a fully equipped multidisciplinary Critical Care Unit with advanced ventilators and life-support systems, mechanical compression devices, patient warming devices and radiant infant warmers and ECMO services. The department also practices ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia and vascular access, regional anaesthesia for high-risk surgical patients, continuous catheter techniques for acute and chronic pain management with low-flow anaesthesia for patient safety, cost efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

Postgraduate MD program commenced in the Department of Anaesthesiology from the academic year 2025.
