The Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology functions with the objective of enabling undergraduate students to acquire knowledge and skills required to identify, manage, and document common medico-legal problems encountered in day-to-day medical practice. The department emphasizes understanding of a physician’s legal responsibilities, adherence to the code of conduct, and practice of medical ethics.
Students are trained to diagnose and manage common cases of poisoning in the community, prepare medico-legal reports in various medico-legal situations, and actively participate in medico-legal post-mortem procedures.
